State of Black Workers in San Diego county

Black workers in San Diego and across the country face higher rates of unemployment, are paid lower wages for the same work and are overrepresented in essential work. Systemic racism and labor discrimination has created these outcomes and has meant that Black families are among the most impacted by the pandemic and economic recessions. On February 23, 2021, Center on Policy Initiatives coordinated a panel discussing on systemic racism and labor, the current reality for Black workers in San Diego, ways we can support Black worker organizing like the new San Diego Black Worker Center.
